Stock Judging & Field Day

Radnor YFC’s Field Day sees members from each club taking part in lots of competitions with the majority being agricultural-based competitions.

The event is held in October and features: Junior Fferm factor, ATV Challenge, Efficiency with Safety (e.g. farm safety skills, first aid and knowledge of safe use of farm machinery and quad bikes), Fencing, Photography, Cookery, Flower Arranging and Performance.

Radnor YFC’s Field Day is becoming a bigger event each year and many describe the day as a mini Rally!

Winners from the various competitions have the opportunity of going forward to represent Radnor at Wales events such as the Eisteddfod, Royal Welsh Winter Fair and the Wales Field Day which is held in April.

Stock Judging consists of a number of disciplines: Butcher’s Beef, Dairy Cattle, Fat Lambs, Breeding Ewes, Pigs and Carcase. Our Stockjudging Day is held before Field Day and over the past few years the county has held this event at livestock markets. Our members can compete in either the Junior or Senior Stockman of the Year depending on their age and this includes judging Fat Lambs, Pigs, Butcher’s Beef and Breeding Ewes as well as completing an Animal Health Questionnaire. Radnor YFC also holds an Under 14s placings-only class where they just have to judge a ring of 4 fat lambs and a ring of 4 butchers pigs.
